LEAP OPENING PRESSURE MEASUREMENT SYSTEM (BAJAJ AUTO – PUNE)
Bajaj Auto sent a request to design a leap opening pressure measuring system. The basic idea of such a system is to measure and store the maximum pressure that can be sustained by a closed system before it starts leaking. Such systems were not easily available in the market at that time (year 1998) and the imported systems were proving to be very costly.
We already had all components in place to measure force. With some modifications we designed a system based on our existing electronics to measure pressure. This minimized the time for development. Mechanical arrangement included a test bench, a pneumatic supply and fixtures to setup the O-RINGS for which leakage tests were to be conducted.
All this resulted in a system which was relatively inexpensive but at the same time reliable and accurate. Any repairs were also easy to arrange because all material was sourced locally.
